TightVNC and screenreaders

Don Raikes

Hello,

Is there any way to include screenreader support in TightVNC?

I am a blind computer user, and need to use vnc to access some remote systems.

None of the screenreaders on the market today say that they support VNC style connections, however, I was wondering if there would be a way to include some hooks into TightVNC to enable screenreaders to “read” the remote system’s screen?

As an accessibility specialist for almost 13 years, I would be willing to help in any way I can to enable this functionality including testing, and possibly coding.

I have been working on this based on UltraVNC; the main hindrance is cross-platform issues. My experience is with Windows' accessibility implementations.
