Java client and french keyboard

The TightVNC java client has great features and works very well as soon as a java vm is installed on the computer, but I found an issue with the french keyboard.
This keyboard is able to type french special characters such as ê or û by using a very specific way. The user must first type the ^ key (nothing happens on the screen), then the e key and the complete character, ê in this example, is typed.
This comes from mechanical typewriters which were working this way.
This process works very well when using the native TightVNC client but not at all with the java one.
Some special characters do not seem to work as well with the java version such as @, even if the way they are typed is more conventional.
Hoping that this will be fixed one day as the java version is very good, and probably more suitable for linux users (the native windows version works on wine anyway).
Best regards.
MGR.
